Untitled, Seated Figure
Signed and Numbered
This striking image depicts a mythological seated figure with an array of perspective-bending mirrors, frames, and objects. It's symbolism reveals a story of ordinary and supernatural tensions, bordering between reality and fantasy.
The artist draws from a range 0f ancient and modern sources--including Egyptian hieroglyphs, Greek mythology, psychology and literature.
Each frame is custom made with stained maple wood and museum glass in collaboration with Laumont Photographics, New York City.
This image is as much a reaction to its context as it is a result of the psychology of the artist in a time of profound change. It draws on themes from such sources as Animal House, Brave New World, Mrs Doubtfire, and the mythology of Oedipus and the Sphinx.
